Its amazing
how Audi Ditches Diesel to come up with a plug – in hybrid car as it was against electric cars
even five years back.
Most of the
customers are afraid of purchasing electric cars, as some unscrupulous car
makers have left some strange reactions in the minds of customers. Now the
latest trend is that the car makers are going to plug in hybrids, where you
have an electric motor along with the normal petrol or diesel engine. So, this
has enabled customers to take benefits of both the world. Even a staunch diesel
car maker, audi, has decided to launch Audi A3 PHEV, which is a plug- in
hybrid. Launching this hybrid is putting the best foot forward to launch an
electric car in the future.
Way back in 2008,
the CEO of Audi’s north American operations said that electric cars cannot be
the way of the future. He was of the opinion that both the customers and the
technology are not yet ready to embrace electric cars. Audi started with a
complete electric car in 2009, called the e – tron, which was quite a stunner.
After that they discreetly made A3 electric and plug-in hybrid tests.
In the 2013
Geneva Motor Show, they had vouched for the plug in hybrids, and told that only
electric cars are not in their scheme of things now. The Audi A3 PHEV feature
is the best in the class. It comes with a 1.4 L TFSI gasoline engine that is
turbocharged. It is capable of generating a maximum power of 148 HP, and the
electric motor is also a very efficient one, and generates a power of 101 HP.
The car comes with a six speed transmission, which delivers all the power to
the front wheels of the car. The new plug – in hybrid A3 is yet to be launched,
and the Audi A3 Price Audi A3 PHEV will be around 38,000 Euros.
