A stark comparison between three most demanded automatic mid-size salons.

Automatic vehicles have started grabbing bigger space in markets and demands as the traffic conditions are getting more stricken. That is also one of the reason why compact and mid-size vehicles have suddenly started making sense to all. So, through this article we try to help you distinguish between three mid-size saloons that are surfacing as most demanded vehicles in main stream urban vehicles. Also, since petrol vehicles are more in demand we can safely assume that these vehicles will be sparsely used for long distance travels or journeys.

Also, the choice of automatic vehicles also demonstrate that people are not relying on drivers rather they prefer to drive their cars themselves. Also, if you are being so specific about your preferences than your budget too must be specific somewhere under Rs.10 lakhs. We suggest you three mid-size saloon cars that have all the above mentioned features along with the flexibility that is available only in hatchbacks. Honda City has been the most usual choice in this respect for many people. The car been a hot favorite since it has been launched in 2009. The Honda City sports all latest features with which its maker keep it updating from time to time. The latest facelift model of the car bears chrome grille and alloy wheels that adds to its appeal. Also, several new mechanisms such as ABS, EBD, airbags, have been installed to enhance Honda City safety features. A range of Rs.9.22 lakhs to Rs.10.59 lakhs is what makes the Honda City price pleasing to customers. This price range has also proven to be one of the biggest USPs of this vehicle.
A mind blowing basic architecture and a contemporary design is what makes the regular Ford Fiesta specifications special. The car along with AT has also been provided with an efficient engine and fuel technology that gives an acceptable Ford Fiesta mileage figure. Some other defining features of this car include voice activated audio and climate controls, smooth driving and handling experience, and refreshed interiors. Although this French brand Saloon is the latest entry in this segment but the Renault Scala features make it a distinct class in itself. Be it space or add-ons or comfort features, everything has been provided in such perfect proportion that you find it none other than perfect for your needs and tastes. And unlike the other two rivals, Scala uses a bit advanced type of automatic transmission system that is the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This system promises an improved fuel efficiency which is a required quality in order to get an edge over other counterparts. Other features that makes it better than the other two are smooth driving experience, rational systems of the car, hi-tech well designed interiors, and much more.

Next criteria that puts a stark difference between the two is the driving experience. Honda City among the three leads in this segment with its 117 PS power source. Scala in this section gets the lowest position due to tis engine that provides power worth just 99 PS while Fiesta hags in between the two with power generating capacity of 108 PS. But when considered in terms of speed, it is Scala that again takes the lead with a time lag of just 12.1 seconds in gliding from 0-100kmph speed. The CVT gearbox and its lighter weight is what helps it in taking a lead here. Honda City stands on next position with a time period of just 12.16 seconds while Ford Fiesta stands last with 13.8 seconds. But in the real world, it is Ford Fiesta engine that shows maximum activeness and sensitivity and covers up for the last section in which it stood last. The engine works quickly and silently over longer ways. Honda City on the other hand proves handy over traffic stricken conditions. But Renault Scala proves to be the best in terms of urban environment. In terms of performance on freeways and traffic roads the saloon offers you most convenient and easy handling drive.

On higher speed Honda City is one car that fits as perfect companion for you. Renault Scala on the contrary becomes quite noisy on higher paces. Ford Fiesta is not very quiet but you would prefer it over Renault Scala for speedy drives.  In terms of ride and handling, it is Ford Fiesta that is unbeatable. The car’s heavy weight and sophisticated suspension system that provides you smooth rides over uneasy and rough paths. Renault Scala on the other hand seems a bit compromised with suspension system and along with feeling bumps and jumps on uneven rides you will also hear the low humming of the roads. The weaker sound insulation is another weakness of Renualt Scala. The suspension of Honda City too isn’t that competitive when compared to Ford Fiesta. Also the wider and suitable window lines and the big rear screen in Ford Fiesta that provides you a better view of outer world and rear path while reversing. The higher window line of Renault Scala is one that creates a problem although the rear view is not that hampered due to its wide rear screen. And Honda City is one car that seems quiet compact in this respect when compared with the other two.
In terms of interiors, it is Honda City that looks most comfortable and luxurious. The plastics and the chromed air vents that rest on both sides look quite classy and every material looks upmarket. The instrument panel too looks well finished and neat. Fiesta inners too look good and dashboard looks well organized but some low quality plastic is something that makes it look a bit down market. Renault Scala interiors are good but stand a rank down when compared to other two. In terms of space it is Renault Scala that has no competitor. The cabin is airy and offers plenty of space to breathe and move. But the rear seat that lacks thigh support is what makes you feel a bit constricted. Honda City’s rear seats on the other side provide you the required comfort and the raised level at the foot of front seats provide you with footrests. It is in terms of rear seat where Ford Fiesta lacks behind the two. The seat will provide you all needed comfort in case you fit in them, but the legroom is limited and seats lie on lower side. Also, the all side blacked interior is what makes you feel depressed and low. But the driving position that has been provided in Fiesta is although lower but much better than in City and Scala. The City seats have been positioned higher in order to provide you with make the outer world view more comfortable for you. Front seats of Scala are also good but the rear seats are in complete contrast with them. Moving on to boot space, Honda City leads the two with a capacity worth 506 liters, Scala comes on second with 490 liters while Fiesta stands last.

Talking about prices, Renault Scala has been priced in the range of Rs.8.99 to rs.9.89 lakhs. The Ford Fiesta available in two versions falls in the price range of Rs.9.23 lakhs to RS.9.96 lakhs. The high – end trim model of this car provides you with special add-ons like voice command system, Bluetooth, etc that too at a lower price than Renault Scala. The Honda City price range goes a bit higher than the two but the special add-ons along with other superior features provide right value for money. In terms of fuel efficiency, Fiesta mileage counts at 10/15 kpl on roads/highways. Renault Scala mileage counts at 10/16kpl on roads/highways while the same of Honda City stands at 9/15kpl.
