Following the diesel version of Ram1500 and Grand Cherokee, Chrysler
300 diesel model being considered.
It comes with no surprise when we hear about the
consideration of Chrysler diesel option for 300. The diesel powered 300 would
add next link to the chain of vehicles that are being rapidly converted for
this economical fuel option considering the rising fuel prices and scarcity of
fuel. As our friends from Words Auto like to report that the President and CEO
of the American Auto Maker, Saad Chebab, recently gave a word in an interview
about considering the possibility of diesel powered 300 model. Although how good or how bad this move will be is a question
that is being least considered by all. Chrysler however is looking into keeping
the power source of the model same as the previous one. The diesel based 300
will also be powered by the 3.0 Liter V-6 that is right now empowering its
doppelganger in Europe, Lancia Thema. Chrysler has admitted to the fact that
the power source of the diesel based Grand Cherokee and Lancia Thema have a
similar basic infrastructure.
But the power source that will powering the
U.S. version of 300 will be a bit modifies in order to meet emissions norms of
America. The engine that powers Jeep at present is a 3.0 Liter diesel engine
that has power to produce power worth 243 PS against a peak torque of 569 Nm.
But which engine will be finally pumping the heart of diesel based 300 is yet
to be decided. So nothing much can be estimated about approx. figure of Chrysler 300 diesel car mileage. As the company CEO likes to add that the final
configuration of the engine will be based on an estimate as to how much premium
the buyers would be ready to pay for this particular feature. The Chrysler 300
price will also vary according to the fuel option and engine option will be
associated with it. For e.g. if you opt for two wheel drive diesel option for
grand Cherokee you will have to either pay extra $4500 than the basic V6 engine
or $2305 over V8 engine. Jeep too considers the diesel based engine premium for
its units in the same range. So it should not come as a surprise if the final
lineup of 300 too adds such hefty premiums with its diesel version.
