the upcoming Honda sedan Amaze and Maruti’s most successful model Swift Dzire.
The way everyone has been
anticipating arrival of Amaze on Indian platform it wouldn’t be wrong to say

Dzire but the rear seat legroom that is most basic demand of a sedan is well
met the former one than the later one.
Honda Amaze wins over
Dzire even in terms of luggage space. The 400 liters of boot space swallows
much more stuff than 315 liters of Swift Dzire. The basic dimensions of Honda
Amaze stand at 3990 mm length, 1680 mm width, and 1505 mm height along with
2405 mm of wheelbase. The same in Maruti Dzire measure as 3995 mm length, 1695
mm width, and 1555 mm height and a wheelbase of 2430 mm.
So in this aspect Honda
Amaze Scores – 1 while Maruti Dzire – 0.
Power, Performance, and Potential
Honda Amaze again takes
over Maruti Swift Dzire in this section. Not only is its engine bigger in size but is
more efficient. The Honda sedan is powered by a 1498 cc, four cylinder, 16
valve common rail diesel power mill that gives an output of 99 PS at 4000 rpm
against a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. The Amaze engine is supported by a
turbocharger. The Dzire’s engine on the other hand is a four cylinder 1248 cc
multijet diesel engine along with a fixed geometry multicharger. This engine
carries a capability to deliver power worth 75 PS against a top torque of 190
Nm.
Honda Amaze handling and
driving is more efficient considering
the traffic stricken roads of India on the other hand with Dzire one
needs to go down to extract power to quickly overtake other vehicles.So in this section again
Honda Amaze gets an edge over Maruti Swift Dzire.
The Fight of Features
This is one section where
Dzire takes over Honda Amaze. The inner cabin of Dzire is much more refined as
compared to Honda Amaze. The Dzire inside front is more insulated to outside
sound and pollution as compared to Honda Amaze. Maruti Dzire is also equipped
with better adjustable headrests with its front seats and the cabin gives a
more refined taste as compared to cabin of Honda Amaze. Other features that Maruti
Dzire carry are automatic climate control, CD player with audio system, and
rear fog lights. Honda Amaze on the contrary offers electronically adjustable
foldable mirrors, a USB Aux radio system, front fog lamps, manual HVAC
controls, etc. The features common among both are keyless entry, tilt
adjustable steering, height adjustable driver’s seat, alloy wheels, ABS, dual
air bags, and defoggers.
Price
This is the most important
question. Honda Amaze price has not been opened yet but all kind of assumptions
are being made considering the Maruti Swift Dzire price strategy against other
models of Honda. It is being assumed that the base petrol variant of Amaze
would cost around Rs.6.3 Lakhs a little below Maruti Swift Dzire while the
diesel variant would cost around Rs.7.5 lakh almost same to diesel version of
Maruti Dzire.
Final Question?
The question is not that
if Honda Amaze car mileage is better or Maruti Swift Dzire mileage? It is about how
far will they go to overtake each other as it is clear that Honda is launching
Amaze to rival against Maruti Swift Dzire diesel in India. But challenges lies
in front of both the brands as Maruti on one hand has a wider network of
dealerships while Honda knows to give exactly what a customer want. So the war
will really be worth watching.
