Hindustan Motors news is said to launch all-new BSIV diesel
Ambassador in the country soon. This car will have tuned engine for better
performance.
Country's oldest passenger car, HM Ambassador is all set to come
with BS-IV diesel engine in few weeks and will be sold with new name. Company invited
representatives of taxi association of and around Kolkata to drive new Ambassador
at HM's Uttarpara plant. Hindustan Motors dealers as also taxi drivers had a
feel of car on company’s purpose-built track. A taxi association official was
quoted as saying "the new vehicle offers higher power and torque, better
vehicle control with power steering, improved gradient negotiating capacity,
better cooling and overall better drivability with no compromise on fuel
consumption."
So far, Hindustan Motors had been selling BSIII compliant
diesel car and BSIV petrol variants cars in Tier-II cities. Now with BSIV
diesel Ambassador Car; Hindustan Motors will be able to start sales in 17
Indian cities. It is expected that BSIV variant of diesel Ambassador will be
more promising for power and torque than earlier variant. Tuned fuel efficiency
will also be on a highlight. Though, it remains to be seen if company will be
offering any change for interior or will stick to basic cabin. New BSIV variant
will come along with few changes to looks.
Urban customers basically do not prefer Ambassador because they
have other nice options in market from domestic and foreign car makers.
Currently, only taxi operators and Indian government are target customers for
HM. Company is said to be considering a sub-4 metre Ambassador, which will prove
competitive to Tata Indigo eCS, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze.
