Bentley Motors is planning to offer Hybrid SUV for customers to meet their needs in a skillful manner.

Bentley Motors is in final stage of deciding the fate of proposed SUV, the first of its kind in British marque’s illustrious history. Everybody who is close to development is pretty confident about Bentley SUV becoming a reality. Bentley EXP 9 F concept which was displayed at Geneva Motor Show one year back had received some tough comments and views regarding design.

Nevertheless, Bentley says there are more than 2,000 prospective customers who are already willing to give money even without knowing how production model would look like. This has given Crewe based car maker enough confidence to sign off SUV for production but not before a redesign. While definite specifications and final design are not known, Mr. Kevin Rose, board member in-charge of sales and marketing, Bentley, told a plug-in Bentley hybrid SUV is a certainty. He said, “We’ll probably bring an SUV to market, and that may be the first time we come with a plug-in hybrid. That is the sort of technology we see would be better for Bentley globally.”

Yet to be named Bentley upcoming SUV, if signed for production, could be launched in later part of 2015. This upcoming car would share its architecture and hybrid technology with next gen Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg. Mahindra’s all-electric car e2o (pronounced ‘ee-too-oh’), launched yesterday, could be an ideal vehicle for customers. Running cost of this car is just Rs 0.50/km, much lower than petrol (Rs 4.5), diesel (Rs 2.7) and CNG (Rs 2.12).

It runs around 100 kms at a charge. Li-Ion batteries act as its power plant. It can be charged from a simple 15A power socket also used for laptops. Electric car e2o is low on maintenance, compared to internal combustion engines is quiet and does not pollute environment. It is gearless, which means easy driving in heavy traffic. An overnight charge will power car enough for a mild city commute. Advantages of this car fall short of several consumer buying parameters. Consumers cannot enjoy a short weekend getaway in this electric car as it does not support long drives given its limited range. Its top speed is just 80 km an hour.

Mahindra e20 car price is on higher side. At Rs 5.96 lakh (on-road, Delhi), e2o is expensive than Maruti Swift (Rs 4.48 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi) and twice as expensive as Maruti Alto 800 (Rs 2.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi). With steep pricing, experts have raised questions whether premium on car is justified, as investment recovery period is bound to be much longer. Cost of battery is single-most expensive component in an electric car, as much as third its cost.

Imported Li-Ion battery, not yet locally made, could set you back by Rs 150,000 in case of replacement. Mahindra e20 has just two doors and access to back seat is through front collapsible seats. Unlike United States and Europe, buyers of electric cars get government subsidy (from $1,000-11,000) or China (Yuan 60,000 or $10,000), India does not have such beneficial offers.

Mahindra & Mahindra was expecting government would provide a rebate of Rs 150,000 to every buyer, including 20% rebate on ex-factory price or Rs 100,000. However, subsidy ended last year and government has not renewed it. Lack of government intervention in promoting e-cars has put off manufacturers. GM, for example, was actively working on an all-electric version of Spark hatchback for India and foreign market but abruptly put the plan on hold. Japanese auto giant Nissan, too, was planning to launch an all-electric car in India called ‘Leaf’ but later pulled out, due to unfeasible domestic market conditions. The Leaf, on sale in US and China, delivers as much as 130 km, with a maximum speed of 150 km an hour.

Inspired from Ferrari new launch, Maserati looking into bringing a new version of MC12 supercar.

Maserati these days look much inspired from the latest revelation from Ferrari. And that is why it has decided to bring in a new descendant of the 2004 Ferrari MC12 supercar. This supercar if turns into production, will be definitely based on LaFerrari platform. This reminds us of the MC12 that was extracted from the Enzo platform, although this Ferrari supercar of 2013 wouldn’t be a hybrid like that one.

The fundamental platform of this Ferrari MC12 might be common with new LaFerrari MC12 but the power sources will definitely bear signature mark of Maserati. At present, from what the scenario suggests, Maserati car will be exercising one out of two engine options. New Mercedes car 2013 and Bentley new flying spur 2013 will be introduced for grand Goodwood festival of speed 2013.

Bentley Motors has announced that they will be introducing some high speed action to Goodwood Festival of Speed slated for July 2013. Among their products will be Continental GT Speed convertible capable of 202 mph while two Bentley Speed 8 Le Mans race automobiles will also be presented. These two Speed 8 Le Mans car were seen at 2003 events making Bentleys victory and will be marking their 10^th anniversary at Goodwood.

It will also be marking the comeback of Bentley to top level motor sports in GT3 race car by the end of 2013. Bentley new Flying Spur 2013 will be viewed as the fastest and most efficient luxury car of sedan segment where it is being presented with 6.0 liter twin turbo W12 engine offering 800 Nm torque and a top speed of 322 kmph. Isuzu Motors has big plans for Indian market as well as for global markets. To boost sales, it is establishing new plant in Andhra Pradesh in India.

Upcoming plant will have installed capacity of 1.2 lakh units per year, out of which 1/4th will be for exports. Isuzu has signed pact with Andhra Pradesh government and plant will be set up at Sri City in Chittoor’s SEZ. Company has its headquarters in Tokyo with manufacturing plants in Thailand and China from where Isuzu Automotive runs its export operations to more than 100 countries worldwide. Location in Andhra Pradesh is hoped to attract suppliers and component manufacturers in much the same way as when Toyota opened its Karnataka plant which helped to draw over 150 auto component manufacturers.
