According to
EPA investigation the high Hyundai Mileage, which was falsely claimed has
landed the car maker in not only deep but hot water.
It has now been revealed that the2013 Hyundai models had made false claims regarding the mileage that they give, and some have been found be over quoted by 6 mpg. After the EPA investigation both Hyundai and Kia motors have landed themselves in deep soup. After these stunning revelations, lawsuits were filed against the latest Hyundai Mileage. The manufacturer has accepted its fault, and has agreed to pay compensation to the owners of the Hyundai cars. Many lawsuits were filed across different States of America, but later on they were all compiled to a single lawsuit in the federal court in Los Angeles.
The
reimbursement schedule has been decided, and according to the sources it
depends on the period of time that the owner has owned the Hyundai vehicle, and
the extra gas that they have required during this period, than the falsely
claimed mileage. Whatever figure comes out, the company has decided to add 15 %
extra to it to make up for the false figures that they had issued, and as a
goodwill gesture.
Apart from the
compensation, it has been decided that the owners will continue to get the
rebates on gas mileage as long as they own the cars. It was required to
register under this scheme by the end of last year. After offering such
attractive compensation schemes to the owners, then also the lawsuit went
ahead, and Hyundai has agreed to settle all the cases. Kia motors on the other
hand is still on the process of evaluating different situations and angles.
Although the exact compensation figures are unavailable, but still it is
expected that at least $ 775 million will be given to 900,000 affected
customers, by both the car manufacturers.
The
Hyundai latest feature has identified their error, and have specified the
correct mileage figures. The owners have the option of choosing a direct lump
sum of the compensation package, or get it at certain intervals.
